The Southern Jaguars were looking for a great start in this series against
Arkansas-Pine Bluff after coming off a sweep the past weekend against Alcorn State
where they would sweep them 3-0. These teams didn’t hold back on each other
offensively, starting off with Arkansas-Pine Bluff scoring early at the top of the first
putting up a couple of RBIs to get things kicked off to a nice start, soon after the
Jaguars answered back with a RBI from Xavier Bradley to get Ryan Hunter in for a
score in the first inning.
Southern came back with momentum with KJ White Jr. getting on base to start off
the bottom of the third, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff would give up an error which would
send KJ White Jr in for the score, but that wasn’t all that was in store for this inning.
Brant Stewart came out and hit a bomb to clean up the rest of the bases, putting the
Jaguars up by 2.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff were fighting with all they had and got what they worked for
in the top of the fourth inning getting an RBI to send their runner in for a score to put a
dent in the Jaguar’s lead.

But the Jaguars didn’t take that lightly, KJ White Jr. came back with an RBI to
bring in Omari Johnson to extend their lead. And the heat would continue from there
with Xavier Bradley hitting a crucial double, followed by Brant Stewart who would
sacrifice himself to get their final runner in making the Jaguars go up by 7 to end the
sixth inning.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff was still swinging, hitting their own homer in the to shorten
the lead a little bit, unfortunately for the Golden Lions it wouldn’t be enough to keep the
Jags down, Ryan Hunter will find he way home after the fly out from Kameron Bryd.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff would have the last punch getting hit by two pitches and
scoring an RBI to wrap the first game of the series with the final score 11-7, and the
Jaguars would go on and ship out the Golden Lions giving them a 3-0 series sweep.
Next time the Southern Jaguars will be at it again would be at University of
Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field at Russo Park on April
28, 2026, at 6pm.
