Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather Jr are set to get back in the ring in April. Floyd is coming to fight after an incredible 50-0 professional career. Due to Floyd being 49, his age might play a factor in this fight, but Tyson is an older opponent, so it could go both ways.
Tyson took on Jake Paul in November of 2024, where he was defeated. Coming into this exhibition match at 59 will be a challenge. Although he is very active and still maintains his skill, Floyd is a younger and quicker fighter. The exhibition will mainly be for entertainment purposes, but it’ll still be good to see if these two amazing fighters are still able to produce a great match. These two men are able to come in at any weight, as it is an open-weight fight. Ultimately, this is a money grab for both men.
To shed some background on Tyson’s recent fight, Jake won by unanimous decision, which was expected but unexpected. I believe the viewers expected Tyson to perform better, but also took into consideration that he is an older competitor. It was an eight-round fight, so we could see a little bit of stamina depletion within Tyson.
Coming up against Floyd Money Mayweather, he will have to throw more punches than he did in his last fight, and use the power he is known to have if he wants to come out on top. Mayweather’s last fight was around the same time as Tyson’s in the fall of 2024. He is known for his ring intelligence, defense, and perfect 50-0record. He will definitely have the upper hand in speed, but Tyson could have him in power. If Mike can land good power shots, it could slow Floyd down. Statistically, I predict that Mayweather Jr will earn another win. Nevertheless, this is going to be a hyped and entertaining fight for the people. Who do you think will come out on top?
