After suffering a tough 44–94 loss to the University of Mississippi, the Southern Lady Jaguars were determined to bounce back in Tuesday’s November 18th matchup against the Tougaloo Bulldogs, who entered the game riding the momentum of a recent win.
Southern came out strong in the opening quarter, jumping to a 16–8 lead. The Jaguars shot 27.5% from the field, but their efficiency of three pointers (50%) and the free-throw line (100%) gave them confidence early. Their defense was equally impressive, holding the Bulldogs to just 26.7% shooting and keeping them in check as the score stretched to 26–18 by halftime.
In the second half, Southern wasted no time reasserting control. The Jaguars shot 40% from the field and continued to find success from deep. By the end of the third quarter, they had extended their lead to 43–28.
Southern’s defensive dominance carried into the final minutes. They limited the Bulldogs to a dismal 14.3% shooting from the field and just 60% from the free-throw line. Despite some lapses in rebounding, the Jaguars maintained their energy and closed out the game with a commanding 67–38 victory.
Sophomore guard Jocelyn Tate anchored the defense with 5 steals, while also grabbing 13 rebounds and adding 9 points. Senior guard Demonnie Lagway led the scoring effort with 13 points, helping secure the win in this one-sided contest.
The Lady Jaguars will look to carry this momentum into their next challenge against UCLA at Pauley Pavilion on November 23, 2025, for 4 p.m.
