One of the most anticipated thrillers of the year debuted this past weekend. The Perfect Guy, which stars actress, Sanaa Lathan, and actors Michael Ealy, & Morris Chestnut, made a gross profit of $26,700,000 in its opening weekend. The film focuses on Leah Vaughn, who is portrayed by Lathan, in an unhappy relationship with her boyfriend David, portrayed by Chestnut. David finds it hard to commit to Leah as much as she wants, which causes Leah to end the relationship in the early end of the film.
Shortly after the discontinuation of her recent relationship, the film introduces Carter Duncan portrayed by Ealy. Carter’s suave, impressionable attitude, provides Leah, with just enough consideration, to completely remove David from her mind. He begins to provide all the things as she wished David would have done. This involved taking her out on spontaneous dates, sending romantic gifts, and even meeting and devolving a great relationship with her hard-to-please parents. Leah began to feel as if she had met the perfect guy, but has she?
In the mid climax of the film, a simple mistaken conversation between Leah, and a stranger sends Carter spiraling out of control. Filled with rage he reacts in a brutal, uncontrollable manner, which causes Leah to be terrified of Carter, she refuses to speak to him. The more she denies, the more he pushes to be near her. He refuses to be away from her. Carter feels his relationship with her was much more than a few dates and nights of sexual intercourse, and he wants Leah to feel the same. Strung out on his love, he sends numerous gifts, preforms a couple of pop-ups at all of her normal locations to talk, and even enters her home when she is not there, just to get any glimpse of Leah that he can. She becomes his life, his devotion.
Leah, terrified for her life, with nowhere else to turn, goes to law enforcement. The police then inform her, that since there is no actual threat she cannot have him imprisoned. This enrages Carter, who is recently caught in conflict, as her pervious love interest David reenters her love life. David, who now knows of the situation feels that it is his manly duty to inform Carter that he is here to stay! Carter turns this situation into a challenge, a game in which he will stop at nothing to win, will he? (No spoilers but you all will love the ending)
The cinema will most defiantly have viewers on the edge of their seats. It gives women everywhere an example of tragic irony, because every woman has had the feeling of finding “the perfect guy”. The spine chilling actions, and the chemistry of the thespians will have you hooked. If that’s not enough, you’ll see it because you are a fan of the stars. They are an accomplished, award winning, cast, and director David M. Rosenthal, is now being called brilliant. If you haven’t brought your tickets buy them soon, you’ll need to pre order, the theaters are filling fast, this movie is a can’t miss event.
