If you do not enjoy Sidechat, you are probably a guilty roommate, a litterer, or just on the football team. Let’s talk about it.
Side chat provides a free and safe space to express concerns, opinions, praise, or disapproval. It’s a double-edged sword. The anonymity allows room for ignorance and foolery due to the lack of accountability while on the other end of the sword, it provides a safe and secure place for people to express themselves.
I’ve seen a range of topics discussed from talks about refund checks to someone expressing their sobriety from self-harming. The anonymity of Sidechat gives a voice to the soft-spoken and builds a sense of community.
Now, I know Sidechat is not the most reliable source, but I know I’m not the only one guilty of using Sidechat as my main source of quick news. A couple of swipes and I’m up to date with the latest buzz, soon-to-fail trash pickup party, and I’ve seen at least two party flyers for that night. And honestly, Sidechat has never led me wrong.
Side chat is hilarious, addictive, and the perfect procrastination app.
Although no app is perfect, especially social media, unlike Instagram and TikTok, there is no algorithm creating an echo chamber for your personal beliefs and opinions. Meaning, you will come across a post breaking the guidelines or that you find offensive. However, I think the anonymity keeps posts harm to the minimum- you can only beef with ‘#5’ for so long.
Not to mention, all the side-chat coaches give constructive (and unconstructive) criticism to the football team. In my eyes, you are responsible for the Jaguars big win against the Bulldogs.
