Superstar Keith Jackson

At Southern University, there are a magnitude of various kinds of students attending here. The different clicks that can be ran into on campus are the “C” students simply happy to graduate, the partygoers, the Greeks, the future college drop-outs, and the overachievers. The important thing is that Southern University is full of students who push themselves to go above and beyond. One of those overachievers is Keith Jackson.
Keith Jackson is a sophomore from Monroe, Louisiana. Keith states, “I am pursuing a degree in Finance. I plan to earn my MBA and I am still deciding on where I want to go in my career field.” Keith is also currently part of the Honors Students Association, College of Business Ambassadors, Finance Club, NAACP, and Society of Financial Education and Professional Development also known as SFEPD. As a student heavily involved in school organizations, Keith has had to master time management. Keith has maximized his time-management skills as well as making smart choices which has aided to his scholastic success.
Just like any college student, work-life balance is extremely important. Keith can balance school and personal life because he puts school first and social life second. Imagine juggling several organizations, a social life, and maintaining a decent gpa, one would wonder how someone can keep up with all of that. Jackson says, “I work on time-management, I look at my calendar and place events and dates, I follow through it.” When Keith is done for the day, he likes to hang out with his friends.
From being in multiple organizations, students will learn how to plan events and how to interact with each other. One of Keith’s favorite events was with the Finance Club, at the Smith Brown Memorial Union. “This was an event where we were promoting financial literacy. We set up a table at the student union and students came by to spin a wheel where they had to answer questions on financial literacy and win a prize.”
Keith has always been a hard worker with the support of his parents. “My inspiration would be my parents since they are the ones who push me to be great,” Jackson expresses. Jackson credits his success to his parents; he thinks he would not have reached his goals without them. Keith has placed himself in a position to be a role model to his peers. From multi-tasking in organizations, maintaining scholastic excellence, and keeping a positive presence on campus Keith is on his way to influencing his fellow student body to do the same. Keith has made an active choice to set himself up for his future. Although he may not know exactly where he is headed yet, Keith has certainly laid his foundation on solid ground. As long as Keith keeps his eye on the prize, the sky will always be the limit.
