As sports fans, we love to yell and critique our favorite players when they’re in the game whether it’s through the screen or live in the stands. At times fans can be overbearing making smart or rude remarks because they want their team to win, but do it without thinking about how it will affect the player. There have been several instances, in the NBA, where fans have gotten under the skin and made out-of-pocket comments to the players. One instance was when Oklahoma City played Utah, and a fan and his wife decided to make smart remarks toward Russell Westbrook. Westbrook is known for not taking smart remarks about himself or his team too kindly. This incident ended up working in Westbrook’s favor resulting in the fans getting kicked out and banned from the Jazz stadium. I think that people should think about the consequences of their actions, and yes, you’re helping pay part of their salary, but so are millions of others, along with endorsement deals. Some fans think that because they paid for a ticket that may be a floor seat they are all-star basketball players or they are better than the coaches, but if that was the case you would be on the court playing your heart out while millions of people scream your name and wearing your jersey. However, we can’t just put all the blame on the fans because we know some all-star players that are a bit dramatic. Take who some call the G.O.A.T Lebron James he has had some dramatic situations during a game when fans speak to him he has once thrown fans out because he didn’t like the statement that was made by the fan because they said something for a player on the other team to do against LeBron. But at the end of the day, both sides need to be respectful and use sportsmanlike conduct in the stands and on the court I know it can be hard, but we must try.
