At Southern university, we have police officers that perform certain tasks such as checking IDs so that they know only students on campus, guarding the door for events so that when there is a shooting, they will be there to arrest the shooter, and giving parking tickets to students that park in places that they should not be in. However, there seems to be issues with how police officers handle parking tickets.
In my opinion, I believe that they should give out parking tickets when its necessary. Six times out of ten, that seems to be the case. The other four is not. These police officers try to give out tickets to students that park where they are allowed to park just so that they can get money out of it for the department. That is so selfish because so many students are already in debt from loans and the officers expect us to just pay for tickets that they slap on our windshield wipers. That not all, they also try to put the tickets in the student’s accounts and expect them to pay it there.
That’s ridiculous because if the student never gotten a ticket or even has a car to get one, why would they think that putting the tickets into the student account banner would make any sense? These police officers seem to think that giving out tickets to any one at any time will allow them to get more money out of us which is not the case.
Finally, there will also be times where they like to put two tickets on a car which makes no sense. Not only is that just a waste of paper, but students will be bombarded with another issue that will stress them out even more if they already had a stressful day.
In conclusion These police officers need to understand that they can’t just throw tickets on any car because they want to. Students are always busy dealing with classes, clubs, and jobs that they do not need the issue of trying to figure out where to park. Regardless, No student is going to pay for a ticket they didn’t deserve in the first place.
