SU26 received a warm warm welcome to the bluff this year. Welcome week 2022: JagNik was definitely a week to remember. The Dynamic Administration produced an entertaining fun filled week for the students. Taking it all the way back to the 90’s with the JagNik theme. Being that FreakNik was a popular gathering among HBCU’s. The Dynamic Administration unquestionably produced a satisfying imitation to the FreakNik movement.
The week started with “Step by Step” dance clinic. This event should continuously be included yearly so freshman know the popular line dances. To disregard the disappointment of not knowing SU’s popular line dances at events. Freshman really had a chance to learn every SU line dance. Including the well-known SU shuffle, Can’t Get Enough, Flex, I’m Lit, and of course Before I Let Go.
Students even received the opportunity to meet the Dynamic Administration face-to-face.
During Mayberry Madness at the delicious Red Bean Monday. Students now know who to go to voice their concerns and opinions. Plus, there was a performance by none other than Code Blue the Stomp n Shake team that has definitely shaken the campus.
Magic on the Bluff was something very different at Southern, in fact a quite mesmerizing experience. I enjoyed watching the magic tricks and hypnotization. I was literally in shock the entire show. Later in the week was Trap Bingo which was mostly singing the lyrics to every R&B song that was played. Students screamed to the top of their lungs while playing bingo and trying to take home a prize.
Of course, the Pretty Wednesday experience was an exceptional way to start the first Pretty Wednesday of the semester. Everyone was dressed to impress of course. Maybe even missed class to attend. Though it was hot, students still came out to participate in all the interactive activities. Including riding the mechanical bull, 360 booth, and even free snowballs and ice cream.
Needless to say, the highlight of the week was Jagnik. From the throwback outfits to the music, and the strolling. Everyone pulled out their themed outfits even some customized creations. It undoubtedly gave FreakNik vibes as if it were in the 90’s. Ending things off with the famed Fan Fest. Fan fest allowed student athletes to give autographs and meet the students. As the seasons start students will know about the athletes and what athletics will have to offer.
JagNik went down in the books for one of the best welcome weeks at Southern University. The standards are held high for the Dynamic Administration to continue to produce the best of the best events this semester. JagNik was an overall unforgettable vibe.
