Sports Weekend highlighted with Davenport-Milburn Pelican State Relays, Spring Football Game

Southern University has honored two of the greatest track and field athletes in the history of the school by renaming it’s signature track meet the Davenport-Milburn Pelican State Relays will kick-off at 4:30 p.m., Friday, April 11th, in A.W. Mumford Stadium on Roscoe Moore Track as the 44^th Annual Event take center stage on the Southern University campus.
The Davenport-Milburn Pelican State Relays is a two-day track meet.
Named for Col. Willie Davenport and Rodney Milburn, two Southern Track and Field athletes that went on to superstardom in the Olympic Games, the meet will start with the 400 Intermediate Hurdles, and will conclude on Saturday evening with the 4 x 400 Meter Relay – “The Crowning Jewel” of the relay event featured at the Pelicans.
On Saturday, opening ceremonies will begin at noon with running event starting at 12:30 p.m. with the shuttle hurdle relay.
Sunday, head football coach, Pete Richardson, will guide his Jaguars through the annual “Blue & Gold” Spring Football game at 4 p.m. in A. W. Mumford Stadium.
Gate #4 Northwest, on the stadiums west side, will be the gate for fans and supporters of SU Jaguar football. Gates will open at 3 p.m. for admittance.
Cost of the Blue & Gold spring football game is $5 and all seats are general admission. SU student will be admitted free with a valid SU student ID.
