The Student Government Association and the Alpha Tau Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. kicked off their International Day of Service on HIV/AIDS Awareness Forum on March 8, 2003. The forum was designed to promote education and awareness of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the African-American community. The program was held in conjunction with World AIDS Day that was held on December 1, 2002.
“It was very informational… kind of emotional,” said Keshia Kelly a senior psychology major from Hunttsville, Ala.
Some of the supporting sponsors were Chi Eta Phi Nursing Sorority, Emergency Medical Services Friends for Life, O’Brien House, The Southern University Counseling Center, La Chip, Volunteers of America and Mr. Fred Parker, III.
