Southern University is offering 10 full scholarships to incoming fall 2003 freshmen majoring in teacher education.
Recipients can pursue degrees in various areas including agricultural, biology, general science, chemistry, mathematics, English, French and special education. A dual major combining teacher education with another academic major in the sciences or arts and humanities is acceptable.
Successful applicants must teach on a full-time basis in a state-approved public or non-public school for a period of four years.
To apply, students must have a minimum ACT score of 22 or a comparable SAT score, a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0, evidence of community involvement, two letters of recommendation and a statement of educational goals.
