In light of recent events, the editorial board of The Southern Digest is publishing a letter submitted by Southern University Baton Rouge Student Government Association President, Zana Harris. The Southern Digest granted several extensions and made multiple attempts to receive Ms. Harris’ letter before deadline, however, the letter was received after Tuesday’s issue had been sent to press.
In an effort to provide some clarity to the current situation and remain true to our goal as “the voice of the student body”, we hope that this gesture will clear up any confusion concerning the statement not being published. The Digest hopes to maintain your trust and continued readership.
The following letter is posted in its entirety as received:
Hello Jaguar Nation!
This semester has been one full of surprises from the Great Flood of 2016 to Election season 2016; but the resilience of the Jaguars has allowed us to have an amazing semester!
The Student Government Association has worked hard this semester for the students of Southern University. We hope that you all, the students, will continue to support the Student Government Association. Your leaders have compiled the Fall 2016 Semester Review for the Executive Branch of the Student Government Association.
For any further details or complaints and concerns, please contact the Student Government Association via email [email protected]. We will officially reopen the Student Government Association Office January 16, 2017. We are located on the Second Floor of the Union in Suite 227.
Best of luck to all during Finals Week and Congratulations to the Fall 2016 graduating class!
Thank you for an amazing 2016. Happy Holidays and safe travels to all during this break.
Yours truly,
Zana L. Harris
Student Government Association President 2016-2017
