Thousands of Southern University students filled the F.G. Clark Activity Center Wednesday night for the Homecoming Comedy Show.
Lav Luv, who appeared on such shows as BET’s Comic View and Def Comedy Jam, hosted the comedy show.
The DJ for the event was Kool DJ Supamike from Max 94.1’s dream team.
“I felt the love. The crowd was having a good time. I was expecting them to be hype,” said Luv.
According to Luv , he loves performing for Historically Black Colleges and Universities because to him they are the hypest crowds to perform in front of.
“A crowd that is ready to have a good time and laugh really gets me in to my act and ready to make them enjoy themselves,” exclaimed Luv.
The first comedian to perform was Joe Clair, former host of Rap City and current host of Madd Sports on BET. Clair got the crowd going with his off beat brand of comedy.
“I had a great time. By the reaction of the crowd you can tell it was Homecoming week,” said Clair.
A graduate of Morgan State University, Clair says he loves doing HBCUs because it feels like home to him. He was also elated to see Raymond Downs, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, who was at Morgan State when he attended.
“Being on stage is the best feeling in the world for me,” said Clair.
As for advice for young comedians trying to make it, Clair says it is simple “Just do it.”
The final act for the night was current Comic View host Bruce Bruce.
“My favorite part of the night was when the Omega’s and Kappa’s were going at each other,” said Bruce.
Bruce also said that he loved the atmosphere here and would love to come back again.
“The show was an overall success and your SGA did a very good job putting this together, the crowd was great and made me feel at home,” exclaimed Bruce.
