November 5 and 6, the Southern University Golf Team competed in the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff Invitational Golf Tournament.
“The women are improving tremendously,” said Coach Willie Williams.
The women placed first out of six teams competing in the tournament. Outscoring all the teams’ competing in the tournament by 788 points. Danielle Sells was awarded a trophy for posting the lowest score of 161. This was Sells third consecutive trophy honor. Also Danielle Sells and Cassie Jemison, who posted a 162 were, selected to the “all-tournament ” team.
“Our number three and five men need to pick up their performance,” said Coach Williams.
The men golf team placed fifth out of a field of eight with a score of 637. Awarded a trophy for the lowest score in the men division was Brian Njorage with a score of 146. This was his second lowest score of the year.
“We are trying to make the team more competitive to compete with more of the larger schools” said Coach Williams when ask about the goals and improvement for the team.
The team next scheduled tournament is for the men on February 23-25 at the 12th Annual Pizza Hut Invitational in Jackson, Miss.. The men and women will be competing together in SWAC Texas Tournament March 11-13 i
