NATCHITOCHES, La.— The South-ern University women’s basketball team fell for the first time this season 66-53 to the Lady Demons of Northwestern State University.
“We started out in a hole, and I think we were just a little lackadaisical,” said head coach Sandy Pugh. “We beat them in every major category, except making shots. I think our guards got really frustrated with how that unfolded.”
Southern (1-1) was led by Carneta Henderson, who scored 16 points while pulling down six rebounds and was the only Jaguar in double figures. Freda Allen continued her rule on the boards pulling in 11 in her first double-digit rebounding game.
