Dear Editor,
I don’t think that I have to remind everyone of the condition OUR University is in. But I do think I need to remind my fellow peers that I too am a student, just as the other prestigious executive cabinet members. WE ARE Not Miracle workers, as serious spades player, I play the best hand with what I’m dealt! With the previous events of budget cuts, our Administration did they could to accommodate for the “Sorry Springfest” but I ask of the newly elected helpless official, “what could you have done with 40,000 for an SU Springfest?” This is a major problem at SU; we live champagne lifestyles on Kool-aid budgets. Money is getting even tighter by the year just as enrollment is also decreasing each semester.
As a publicist, I look out for the best interest of the students and the president, PUBLICLY! This year is “25th anniversary of Springfest; the “Silver Springfest!” there are alumnae in the show and also current students. I don’t know about you all but I’m used to making something from nothing; that’s what SU has taught me. “As an artist it’s a chance to connect with the students/fans, fraternize with friends, and enjoy great music,” said Jamal Johnson SU class of 2005. When asked if he was satisfied with the artists, he replied, “It’s ok, but artists are there to connect with students. I love to make people move and feel good.”
This year we have a chronological itinerary to ensure everyone a well time managed show. In that line up is the hit maker, Rashad Davis, Bka ILDuce, a 21 year old marketing major from BR who’s never ever been to Springfest. “I feel it is a family event for us (students), this event is not really about the concert or artist, it’s about us ending our semester on a good note.” Said Davis.
It has been a pleasure serving this administration and the students, I hope that you all are safe in the hands you have chosen, keep in mind that the ST in student also is the same ST in stakeholder- which is exactly what we are! And there is always a diplomatic way to do anything.
