On September 4, 2015 the Southern University Law Center, located on the Baton Rouge campus, received a donation from the Members of the Northeast Chapter of the Louis A. Martinet Society. The contribution of 10,000 dollars was donated to the SULC Scholarship Fund, during the President’s Reception hosted by the Southern University System. Over 300 alumni gathered at the Eddie G. Robinson Museum in Grambling, Louisiana, on the Jaguars’ opening football game weekend against Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in Ruston.
“We understand that the students need help, and it is part of our efforts to get the Alumni involved and provide the support for students,” said SU Law Interim Chancellor John K. Pierre.
“The alumni wanted to give back and after discussion the donation was made, and we greatly appreciate it. We would like to challenge our other alumni to step forward and help students in their respected areas, locally and nationally.”
The SULC invites students to the regional workshop that will educate students on rights and needs of workers. The workshop will be on September 22, in room 130 of the Law Center from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Admission is free, and students are asked to register at tinyurl.com/noghore.
