Residential halls are currently without water as contractors work to repair a burst pipe near Boley Hall.
The water was shut off around 9:15 a.m. after the contractors who were hired to install heating pipes damaged a water pipe while digging. The water pipe burst, filling the hole with water bringing construction to a halt.
“This is out of the Housing Department’s control,” said Director of Residential Life Tracie Abraham. “We’ve sent out emails to students in order to notify them of the situation.”Abraham finished.
Contractors are currently in the process of removing water from the hole to locate the break in the pipe and repair it. Until these repairs are completed, Abraham suggests residents utilize the restrooms in the Student Union and academic buildings.
“The facilities in the front of campus are fully functional, the issue is only in the residential area.” said Abraham.
Buildings affected by the pipe burst include Totty, Shade, Jones and Boley Halls, and all campus apartments buildings.
Contractors are hoping to complete the repairs by the end of the business day.
