On Wednesday evening, March 19, the Student Government Association at Southern University and A&M College held the highly anticipated Miss Southern Revue. The event provided a stage for not only the queen candidates but also the presidential and vice-presidential candidates of each class to present themselves and their platforms to the students.
The revue began with each candidate introducing themselves to the audience, and their visions for their potential roles. The queen candidates then showcased their business attire, school spirit, talents, and evening gowns. During the intermission of these acts, the presidential and vice-presidential candidates for each class took the stage. They delivered speeches aimed at earning the trust and votes of their peers, sharing their missions and the changes they hope to bring during their time in office.
The event also marked a heartfelt moment as The 94th Miss Southern University and Agricultural & Mechanical College, took her final walk. With grace and sincerity, she shared her reflections on her year of service. “There were so many meetings we had for you all, fighting for you, even though we didn’t always post about it,” she said. “But I want you to know that every moment was worth it, and I have no regrets. Serving Southern University, the students, faculty, and staff has been an honor, and I’m excited for this next chapter in my life. To the next Miss Southern, know that I will always be here to walk with you every step of the way.”
As the night came to a close, each Miss Southern candidate answered a question to provide voters with further insight into their goals for their term of serving. The event highlighted the candidates for queen and class offices, showcasing their goals and commitment to the Southern University community. The Miss Southern Revue offered a preview of future student leadership and the next chapter of the university.
