As a senior at Southern University who has attended Homecoming all four years, I truly believe Fall 2024 was the best one yet. This year’s lineup of events was memorable, and I had an incredible time throughout the week. A few highlights really stood out.
On Monday, the week kicked off with a comedy show, and the comedians had everyone laughing from start to finish. At one point, a student started roasting one of the comedians, prompting him to run up to the bleachers and roast the student right back. It was hilarious and an unforgettable moment.
The next night brought “Jagcade After Dark,” an event packed with outdoor activities like bike riding, mini-golf, and trampolines. Food trucks lined up, adding an extra treat, and a massive crowd gathered around the DJ, dancing and having a great time. I joined in with my friends, and it was one of the highlights of the week.
Thursday’s Homecoming concert was the peak of the lineup. Singing along to Jeremih’s hits and getting hyped with GloRilla was an incredible experience. Even between performances, different DJs kept the energy high, playing their own mixes and keeping the crowd engaged.
Friday’s pep rally and Saturday’s tailgate wrapped up the week. The tailgate, especially, was packed with students, alumni, and family members. The food was delicious, and I loved hanging out with friends, meeting new people, and connecting with their families.
Overall, I don’t think any future Homecoming will top this year’s lineup and the experiences we shared as Southern University students.
