As the school year kicks off nationwide, universities are swarming with the arrival of students, from eager freshmen to seasoned upperclassmen. However, our athletes have already been hard at work, long before the dorms filled up. With the return of the academic year comes the thrilling commencement of college football season. Jaguars fans, it’s time to rally behind our team that has put blood, sweat, and tears on the gridiron after working long hours in this Louisiana heat.
The Southern University Jaguars are entering the season with a fresh start and a fierce underdog spirit. Under the new leadership of Head Coach Terrence Graves, the program is undergoing an exciting transformation. Coach Graves, supported by a staff of S.W.A.C. legends, is instilling a renewed sense of purpose and drive in our team.
On the offensive front, the Jaguars boast a new offensive coordinator known for his versatility and creativity. With Noah Bodden stepping up as our field general and a solid depth chart among our offensive linemen, the team is gearing up to deliver outstanding performances. It’s only a matter of time before this offense operates like a well-oiled machine.
Our “Dog Day Defense” has always made its presence known in the S.W.A.C., and this year promises to be no different. Key players like All-Conference defensive end Ckelby Givens, sideline-to-sideline linebacker Derrick Williams, and safety Horacio Johnson, who has earned a spot on the Aeneas Williams watchlist, are ready to make their mark.
Coach Graves has been clear since day one: his mission is to develop men and win games. His passion and mentorship are commendable, and our Jaguars are more than ready to take the field this season.
While the opener against McNeese State didn’t go as planned, it’s not indicative of what’s to come. The team is far from satisfied and is eager to bounce back. The Jaguars look to progressively get better and dominate at each game. Be there to witness the resurgence of Jaguar football!
