Dr. Terrence Reesehas been chosen as the Southern DIGEST Faculty Member of the Week.
He is a 1992graduate of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX. He began teaching atSouthern University in 1997. He teaches mathematical physics, modern physicsand physical science.
Reese chose to teachat Southern for various reasons.
“Southern has a goodprogram in physics and it had a good graduate program. Teaching is included inevaluation as well as research,” Reese said.
Reese feels his useof technology distinguishes him from other teachers. He finds that a lack ofmath skills and good study habits is the reason why students have trouble inphysics. Reese’s students enjoy his teaching style.
“He’s kind of cool,”said Tanyelle Jenkins, a junior majoring in early childhood development fromBaton Rouge. “He will actually work with you and help you out.”
Anthony Clay, ajunior business management major from Lafayette appreciates the classroomsetting that Reese provides.
”I like the way he allows us to be calmand relax,” he said. “That’s a hard thing to find in a college setting.”
Reese’s reason forteaching is about more than just the books.
“I like the academicworld as opposed to the business world,” Reese said.
