Show up or shut up…

If you don’t attend a Southern University athletic function this weekend, shame on you.
The “Boys of Summer” are back and from what I see, Jags’ baseball head coach Roger Cador has got the team ready to go and defend the conference title.
Although the team has won the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship for the upteenth time, let’s not take their success for granted. This season, the team doesn’t have Rickie Weeks, but they still do have talent that can far surpass expectations.
So I urge you to show up at the games. Go to New Orleans on Saturday and then come to the game on Sunday. Now more than ever, the team needs your support. ‘Ol Ben shouldn’t be the only faithful Jag at the game. Besides, the Jambalaya and hot sausage po-boys that the Booster Club sells are to die for.
Speaking of support. Come out and see the Lady Jags next week. In case you have forgotten, they are a team also. They’re hosting a hot tournament on Saturday and Sunday, so don’t let the bad benches deter you from coming. Pop a squat on a blanket and make a picnic out of the weekend.
If you can bring your RV for football games, bring it for the weekend and let one of the players change in it. It’s only right being that the teams don’t have locker rooms.
For those who feel a little “woodsy,” there are basketball games up in “North Louisiana” against Grambling State on Saturday night. The Six Man Club is sponsoring a bus trip and it only costs $35-the cost of a good night in the club.
So there you have it, a full weekend of Jaguars’ athletics.
I don’t want to hear anyone talking about these teams and you haven’t been to a game.
There’s no reason not to show up. You don’t have anything to do on Saturday and there’s nothing better than baseball after church.
