In a Southwestern AthleticConference western division match up, the Southern University Lady Jaguarssoftball team (15-13 overall, 13-3 SWAC) will take on the Lady Lions ofArkansas-Pine Bluff (0-6 overall, 4-10 SWAC) in doubleheaders at Lady JaguarField today and tomorrow with games beginning at 11 a.m. on both days.
“We try to get them mentally readyfor this team, because Arkansas-Pine Bluff is a team that does not quit andwill not quit until the game is over,” said Southern head coach Nancy Marshall.
Last weekend, the Lady Jags sweptAlabama State, allowing the Lady Hornets to score only three runs.
When the two teams met last April,the Lady Jags swept the Lady Golden Lionettes in four games during a visit toPine Bluff, Ark.
In the first contest, Southernsophomore pitcher Jamye Roberts donated only three hits to UAPB in the Jags 9-1win. Southern went on to defeat the Lady Golden Lionettes 10-1 in game 2 andthen defeated them 5-1 and 10-1, respectively.
