The Southern University baseball team (2-3 overall) will host the Texas Southern University Tigers today at Lee-Hines Field at 6:30 p.m. The game will be the first of a three-day visit for the Tigers.
“We were able to see who we needed and who we didn’t need going into conference play,” said Jags’ head coach Roger Cador. “We should be ready to go.”
The last time the Jags faced Texas Southern was April 6, 2002, when the Tigers were defeated in both games of a doubleheader.
Southern is coming off a 14-2 loss to Southeastern Louisiana University on March 2 in Hammond. The Jags scored once in second inning and once in the eighth inning. Senior pitcher Corey Poret (0-2) took the loss, throwing four innings with five hits and three runs.
Following today’s game, the Jags will play TSU on Saturday and Sunday, with both games beginning at 1 p.m.
