Southern University will sponsor its National Youth Sports Program June 2-4 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Registration and physicals for the program will be held May 18 from 8 a.m. to noon in Seymour Gym.
Ten to 16 year-olds are encouraged to apply and the cost is free.
“This is a great program for kids in the area,” said Dena Davis, director of National Youth Sports Program. “This is also another chance for Southern to reach out to the community.”
The program was initiated to target at-risk and disadvantaged youth of Baton Rouge and includes (but is not limited to) math and Science enrichment, professional sport instruction, provided transportation and free breakfast and lunch. Drug and AIDS Awareness and Prevention topics will also be addressed.
Those interested are encouraged to contact Davis, at (225) 359-9329.
