With the fall semester in full swing, one thing that is on the minds of many is what to wear to all the up and coming events on and around the yard.
Many styles and designer clothing, ranging from Gucci to Iceberg, can be seen all over campus on a daily basis.
However, for those students who feel the price is just not right to sport these and similar name brands, there is an alternative that is just as stylish, and at a fraction of the cost. Who needs Gucci when there is SU? That is correct, SU, as in Southern University.
Clothes bearing the school logo and name be found everywhere from vendors on street corners to local stores that specialize in selling school paraphernalia.
Top Choice, a local store on Harding Boulevard, specializes in selling a variety of items bearing the Southern University name.
“We offer everything from shirts to pants to entire outfits,’’ said Lynn-Lynn, manager at Top Choice, “We also customize things. If someone has an idea of something they want made, just bring it in and we will do our best to make it.”
“Students of Southern University receive discounts if they bring their ID, and we have additional discounts on Wednesdays,” Lynn also mentioned.
Not only can t-shirts with the Southern logo be found, but also entire outfits.
For women, halter tops, pajamas, shorts and sweatsuits can be found in an array of sizes. The clothes are more stylish and can take a person farther than to a football game.
“I always wear my Southern University shirts to class, because they never go out of all style and no one would dare criticize a shirt with our school name on it,” said Shatyra Williams, a sophomore accounting major from Camden, Arkansas.
For men, there is also a variety of clothing to choose from, including headbands, jogging suits, jackets, baseball caps, and football jerseys.
Reflections, located on Harding Blvd., also offers SU paraphernalia for the entire family.
