The Southern University women’s basketball program has announced the resignation of Greg Adams, as assistant women’s basketball coach. Greg Adams, second assistant coach for the Jaguars, has accepted a similar position at San Jose State University with the women’s basketball program.
“Greg has proven to be an outstanding young assistant coach and recruiter for our program”, says Sandy Pugh, head women’s basketball coach at Southern. “Having our assistants pursued from other programs is a good thing. With change comes opportunity and I know Greg will serve Coach Joseph and San Jose State well.”
Adams joined the Jaguars after spending the two seasons as an assistant coach with the Matadors of Cal State Northridge. Prior to Adams joining CSN, he spent a stint as head girl’s basketball coach at Saugus High School, where he guided the team to a 10-13 record, surpassing the overall win total of the previous two seasons and the team’s league win total of the previous two years. The 25-year-old native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is a 1998 graduate of Cal State Northridge, with a degree in Kinesiology. Adam’s also received the Dean’s Award for Spirit of Educational Equity (EOP) that same year. Adams is a 1993 graduate of Agoura High.
“We hope to announce within the week Greg’s replacement,” added Sandy Pugh.
