Did you see the way the women’s b-ball team handled Babes’ in the exhibition Monday? If you didn’t, you should have. It was raining three’s all over Seymour.
I heard that a few people got perturbed over the fact that I wrote that it would suck to be crippled and dumb pertaining to athletes that were not getting good grades and had to deal with injuries.
According to NCAA statistics, the athletes have a better chance of graduating that I and the rest of the university does. In a six-year cycle, from their freshman year to graduation and beyond, the SU athlete graduation rate is 44%. In that same cycle, the SU non-athlete graduation rate is only 28%.
Now why would I even get ready to call someone dumb, when the statistical cards are stacked against me. For all I know, my college career could be null and voided in the future, but I doubt it.
Congratulations to Coach Cador, the supporters of the new stadium and the media. After a series of talks and interviews, that little tool shed that has been introduced as a press box is no longer as such. It is now an “announcer’s box”. A new section for the media, scouts, and all other persons of relevance will be provided. Thanks, Chancellor.
Now for those who think that I should not worry with this issue because LSU doesn’t have a specific section for the media; quit riding LSU’s coattails. If it were meant for us to be like LSU, then we would have become a satellite-campus. Why can’t we set our own standards? After all, aren’t we “The Southern University”? We don’t need to be like anyone else.
Let’s all show up for the men’s exhibition game tonight and let’s pray they get along a little better on the court than last season. After all, a team that plays together stays together.
Student tickets go on sale Monday for the Bayou Classic, and the general public can start purchasing theirs Tuesday. Don’t wait until the last minute to go and please don’t let the fact of a slumping season prevent you from going.
I remember a time when you couldn’t buy one regular season ticket for under $20-25. Last week, I saw someone selling his tickets three for $10. One man even gave me his ticket and I get in free already!
This is our last game at Mumford. How about we sell this one out without selling out our Jags?
