Southern University’s Intramural Sports Department joined forces with Target Fitness March 11 and left the competition victorious as four students walked away with trips to the National Competition.
Tyrone Hatter, Donald Ballazar, Natasha Smith and Lorelei Nicholson will leave March 26 for the National Competition in Orlando, Fla.
“They did exceptionally well, we have good participants. When Southern University shows up they know they have good competition,” said Melvin Robinson, director of intramural sports at SU.
The Campus Fitness Challenge provided activities testing endurance, strength and speed. Target offered many prizes such as mini basketballs, T-shirts and Centrum Performance
“We were one of the groups that sent in the most teams. We didn’t get a whole lot of participation from the girls …but the ones that participate are the ones that like what they are doing,” said intramural assistant coach Tanner.
The Intramural Sports Basketball League will enter semi-final’s plays April 22 at 5 p.m. in Seymour Gym. All championship games will take place on April 23 beginning with the women at 5 p.m. followed by the faculty/staff, the men will round out the evening

Target will provide the champions with Intramural Championship 5-on-5 Basketball T-shirts to champion. Admission is free and spectators will receive product samples at the play-off games.
