The Southern University Lady Jaguars soccer team succumbed to another loss Wednesday when they fell 6-0 in their home opener against the Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State University.
“We did not execute like we should have,” said interim head coach John Knighten. “The mistakes that we made cost us the game.”
The game was also a conference loss, Southern’s (0-4, 0-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) first of the season.
“We can do better and we will do better in our match up against Alcorn,” Knighten said.
Lady Jaguars sophomore goalie Ashley Stevenson made seven saves off of 13 attempts on the goal. Freshman forward Merdlyn Matthews recorded three shots on goal.
Southern will travel to Vicksburg, Miss. to face the Lady Braves of Alcorn State University. The will play on Sept. 23rd and Sept. 24th. Game time is set for 5 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
