The SouthernUniversity men’s and women’s basketball teams will take head on Arkansas-PineBluff in a Southwestern Athletic Conference match up on Saturday in Pine Bluff,Ark. at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
“We’relooking forward to getting back to our championship way of play,” said Southernwomen’s head coach Sandy Pugh. “Iwasn’t happy with the way they played this week but we’re looking to getback.”
Over theMardi Gras weekend in the F.G. Clark Activity Center the Lady Jaguars easilydefeated Grambling State on Feb. 5, 77-48, but then succumbed to Jackson State57-48 on Feb. 7.
From thestart of the Jackson State game Southern (6-5, 9-11 SWAC) was never into thegame, the Lady Tigers set the pace.
ShelitaBurns was the games leading scorer finishing with 20 points and grabbed 11rebounds.
The Jaguarsmen’s team (10-10, 7-4 SWAC) came away with victories against Grambling State61-55, and Jackson State 66-65.
