The SouthernUniversity bowling team (5-2) will compete for second place in the SouthwesternAthletic Conference -Western Division on Friday. The Lady Jaguars will match upagainst Prairie View A&M at 9 a.m. in Baton Rouge at Metro Bowl.
“We’re lookinggood; I think the girls will do very well,” said Southern head coach KarenCouvillon. “It’s our last SWAC match; it looks like we will be second inthe division depending on the outcome, but they’re one of the weaker teams sowe feel pretty confident.”
At the LadyJaguars’ last match at Grambling State on Feb. 4, Jags’ sophomore CaseyLofthouse finished as Southern’s Most Valuable Bowler as they claimed a4804-4426 victory. Freshman Deneesha Foster picked up a 6-7, the secondtoughest shot in bowling, 7-10 is considered the hardest shot according toCouvillon.
On Saturday andSunday the Lady Jaguars will head to Tallahassee, Fla. to compete in theFlorida A&M University Tournament. The SWAC Championship is scheduledon Feb. 25-27 in Baton Rouge at Don Carter bowling center.
