Just the otherday I had an experience that I would rather not revisit.
I wastransported to a city where women and men engaged in lewd sexual acts, fighting, drug usage and more. Was I having a nightmare? No. I was viewing partof the “Jigg City” film series.
These filmstake a sometimes unsuspecting viewer deep into the annals of some of BatonRouge’s club areas.
The filmcontent has gained such a critical eye that it has been featured on the eveningnews a number of times.
I had to pauseto wonder if these people were simply putting on a show or were they literallyshowcasing actual lifestyles.
Are peopleunaware that such actions as this can result in injury, bad reputations orworse?
A business thatis prominently seen in several scenes on the video is without a doubt underpublic scrutiny.
City officialsand law enforcement have been called out of the woodwork to actually dosomething about the “problem.”
So, you mean totell me, that a business is worth risking for a moment in the undergroundlimelight?
Young men rodeup and down “the strip” displaying guns and expressing their joy of “stayingwith that iron.” So…killing is a trend? It’s fashionable? It’s desirable? How sad.
One woman whoproudly participated in a fellatio contest, proclaimed, “We’re real!” Yeah…realstupid.
Do the youngwomen and men who participated in these sex acts know about the escalating AIDSrate? HELLO!
Baton Rouge isNo. 2 in the nation!
This form of”entertainment” only validates horrendous stereotypes that still thrive in thisnation. Don’t those of you who relish in this lifestyle know that you’re simply”jigging” for oppressing figures? I invite you to research that wordanyway…jigging (“C’mon Toby, dance a jig for our visitor!”)
I furtherextend this information search to Black Entertainment Television, who recentlypulled the plug on the nightly news program so viewers can now have even moremindless booty bumping videos. What’s next, endless Popeye’s and watermelongrowers’ advertising?
It has beensaid that art imitates life. Please don’t tell me this is the life so many arechoosing to live when there is so much more. Maybe I’m getting old orsomething, but is this the way that my generation is living?
I really feelMarvin, when he looked at society decades ago and belted out, “Make Me WannaHolla.”
Well, I’mscreaming. It really seems thatpeople are blatantly choosing to travel along a road to destruction…without aseatbelt.
