ALEXANDRIA– The SouthernUniversity Lady Jaguars ended the day one stroke shy of second place, to takethird at the 2005 Southwestern Athletic Conference Golf Championships.
“Any one of the girls could havepicked up the one stroke we needed to tie,” said SU coach Willie Williams. “We really wanted the two strokes tofinish in second place but with the wind and the way we hit the ball today itwas our own fault.”
This marks the first time inthree years Southern has lost the women’s golf championship.
Sophomore Lee Njorge led themen’s team with 79. As a team theyfinished with 425 to stand in fifth place after two days of competition. The Jaguars will take to the courseagain Friday, for final round action of the SWAC golf championship starting at9 a.m. Scores from the second dayof men’s action were not available.
