Kanye West, alias “Yeezy,” decided to throw his Adidas hat in the presidential race on July 4th, which popped more than fireworks for the media. For the past few years Kanye has gone on crazy, belligerent, long-winded, and just downright stupid rants via Twitter, which has caused a lot of confusion for fans. Because he does have bipolar disorder, a serious mental illness, most people make a plethora of excuses for his rants and antics. Further fanatics claim that the death of his mother Donda West is the reason why Kanye hasn’t been himself: the backpack wearing, October Red wearing Louis Vuitton Don, or the “Beyonce had one of the greatest videos of all time” at the 2009 VMA Awards Kanye that we all knew, understood, and loved. The new Kanye-Kardashian “self-made” billionaire has turned into someone the world of hip hop thought it’d never see. How did he transition from saying “George Bush hates black people” to wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat in the White House? With Mr. West believing that wearing an infamous red hat helped change the world for the better, the only ones hurt were his day one, die hard fans, while racist, narcissistic voters felt empowered to go in early November to put their “savior” back in office for another four years. As Kanye puts his own hat into this presidential race, he threatens to split and hurt the Black vote. This will ultimately contribute to bringing Donald Trump as the President of the United States for a second term, which America does not need. Once upon a time, Kanye did damage in the studio producing and writing classic hits and verses, but if he’s successful in garnering a projected 2% of votes from African Americans, the only thing he will damage is the country and community he claims to love.
