Southern University controlled the SWAC with a 19-3 overall record, a regular season championship and a tournament championship.
The Jaguars have relied on the leadership of senior forward Peter Cipriano, who has averaged just 10.2 points a game this season.
In his 2005- 2006 season, Cipriano had a percentage of .556 in field goals, averaging 8.5 in rebounds, with 41 assists and 42 blocks.
He was also selected again to the men’s All- Southwestern Athletic Conference first team and earned tournament MVP.
Cipriano began playing for Southern during the 2002-2003 seasons under then head coach Ben Jobe. He is a native of Jersey City, NJ from St. Anthony High School.
