Southern University quarterback Troy Williams will be unable to have a shot at redeeming his good name…at least not this year. Due to a shoulder injury, Williams who recently underwent surgery to repair his injury and is now in rehab to prepare for next season.
Troy Williams who only played in seven of eleven games last season, suffered from a lot of emotional strain because of his admittedly “less than stellar performance” last season.
“It was an emotionally draining year, but the difficulties made me stronger. Another person would have walked away from the game, I took a lot of heat as quarterback. Southern being a football school, when things aren’t going right on the field, the blame is on the QB,” said Williams. “…that can put a lot of pressure on a person.
Williams however, holds no grudges against the team or Southern University. The team has been behind him the whole time.
“They have given me a lot of moral support,” stated Williams.
Although Troy Williams is scheduled to graduate in the spring of 2002, his intentions are to return as a full-time student in the fall of 2002 to finish his remaining year of eligibility.
At this time Troy is concentrating on school, football will be left until next year.
