Former Miss Louisiana, Miss America runner-up and current Southern University law student, Faith Jenkins will kick off the Motivational Speakers Series as a part of the homecoming activities
Jenkins will serve as the speaker at 11 a.m., on Thursday, October 4, in the F.G. Clark Activity Center.
Jenkins is 24-year old native from Shreveport and a graduate of Louisiana Tech University in Ruston. There she received her bachelors of arts in political science, with a minor in English.
“She’s not a typical queen, she’s a people person and I think she will give our students meaningful information,” said Avery Wilson, member of the motivational speaker committee and current SU Student Government Association president.
She recently completed her first year at the Southern University Law Center, where she is currently ranked number one in her class.
Jenkins accepted an offer to become the host of a television show that travels across the globe interviewing international professional athletes.
After winning the Miss Louisiana Pageant qualified her to represent the state in the Miss America pageant. Jenkins was runner-up in the 2001 Miss America pageant
She has addressed educational and professional groups, school groups of all ages, and individuals promoting the importance of educational awareness and completing one’s education.
Other accomplishments for Faith includes the National Women’s Political Caucus and the American Bar Association-Litigation Section.
Immediately following the Convocation, there will be a pep rally featuring the SU Band, Student Government Association, the Jaguar football players and the SU cheerleaders, in the Activity Center.
