It often bothers us to see our peers stroll through life haphazardly, seemingly unconcerned with pending graduation dates and potential resumes and interviews.
We as black students need to realize that our competition in the work force does not solely lie on this campus. It stretches across the globe, from Ivy League giants to community college prodigies.
How does your wardrobe look? Does it merely consist of outfits for “Get Your Shine On’” Wednesday and Upscale? Do you have a three-piece suit? Can you attend a formal (you know, that oh-so-important little black dress)? We suggest to try building your wardrobe a piece at a time; it’s not costly at all.
Besides dress, you should be able to present yourself in a professional manner. How many professionals do you know in your field? These could be people who hire or get you hired in the future. Finding a mentor in your field is always a plus.
Are you ready for the real world, or are you just all dressed up with nowhere to go?
