In the parking lot some weeks ago I witnessed something unsettling. A so-called “man” put his hands on a female in a harsh, abusive manner. Of course I was alarmed enough to intervene. “What man would allow this act of violence to occur without responding?” I asked myself. But something else more disturbing than that “man’s” physical abuse took place at that moment. Instead of trying to flee from his wrath, the young lady merely ran behind him.
As I sat in my car, saddened by the atrociousness of the scene and perplexed by the mentalities of the couple, I asked myself first what kind of MAN born of WOMAN has the audacity to raise an angry fist to strike a woman? Secondly, I asked myself if there is anything ANYONE could do to help these female victims when it seems that they don’t see the danger in their own situation.
The Bible refers to the woman as a “weaker vessel.” This is in no way an implication that a woman’s frailty should be dominated and conquered by a man’s brutish bravado. It is actually a call for men to cradle and cherish the tenderness of the woman and to appreciate the “backbone” God has provided as a gift to men. So when these cowardly, insecure, disgraceful “baby boys”(I say this not to place male babies in the same category with abusers, or insult their “manhood”) rape our women, call women out of their name, pimp our women, and hit our women, God’s blessing is defiled.
Shame on that male individual who can still face his own reflection in a mirror after beating a female and tearing apart her spirit. I say to those “half men” out there who feel that the only way for them to vent their anger is by hitting a woman, a war is going on at this very moment. Enlist in the military, take your stress overseas to fight, and while you’re there, STAY!
And to those young ladies, who tolerate this abusive behavior, my heart bleeds for you. But I cannot cry! If you choose to remain with someone who means nothing but harm, it is your own fault. Just know that you are not in a loving situation. Love yourselves, my sisters, and know that for every “knucklehead” that will “defecate” on you, there are thousands of other men that will love and caress your softness. Find him and become the “sanctified completion” to him that you are meant to be.
To parents of both boys and girls, teach your children they are special. Teach them to want and appreciate the goodness of life. And PLEASE, teach them to find others that want nothing but good things for them as well!
