The Southern University Men’s and women’s golf team competed in the Grambling State University Invitational Golf Tournament on October 8-9 and in the Alabama State Invitational Golf Tournament on October 22 and 23.
The Grambling State Invitational saw the men’s team place second with a score of 621 and women in third with a score of 789 to Jackson State University’s first place score 666.
Southern’s golfer Brian Njoroge posted the lowest score of the tournament with a score of146, Danielle Sells of the women’s’ team posted the lowest score of 158.
The tournament, which was held in Montgomery, consisted of eight teams and saw the men’s team take first place with a score of 605 over Alcorn (626) and Alabama State (636).
Peter Ndungu posted the lowest individual score of the tournament with 148. Along with Ndungu’s score were the scores of teammates Bryan Arnold (157), Rashad Wilson (158) and Tarik Asim-Ali (163).
The women’s golf team finished third with a team score of 941. Alabama State won the tournament scoring 789 points followed by Alcorn with 823.
Danielle Sells had the lowest score on the women’s side posting 162 points for the second honor in as many tournaments.
The Jaguar golf team will compete next on November 5 and 6 at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff Invitational.
