A Baton Rouge man is accused of killing his ex-wife’s boyfriend, Jerome Daniels, 23, early Saturday morning. The suspect was arrested following a brief chase and booked into Parish Prison, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.
The ex-wife told authorities that the man was trying to break into her home and that he was armed.
The man allegedly tried to get in through a window, and when that failed, kicked in the back door–with the woman, children and boyfriend inside, Capt. Larry Wright said.
After the shooting the man allegedly forced his ex-wife into her vehicle and made her drive away from the home, Wright said. The two were just leaving as deputies arrived, he said.
The woman suffered bruises to her face and was taken to Earl K. Long Medical Center to be treated, Wright said.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested 38-year-old Alvin Ray Lanus. He was booked with first-degree murder, second-degree kidnapping and aggravated burglary, booking records show.
Daniels, also known as “J-Dan” was a co-host of the MAX 94.1 “A.M. Wrecking Crew” morning show.
