Southern’s Chris Davis was named SWAC Player of the Week for his performances last week in SU’s two losses at Grambling State & Jackson State. Davis scored a career-high 33 points on Saturday at Grambling and followed that up with 26 points at Jackson State.
Davis, a (6-1, 165, Jr., Baton Rouge, La.) senior guard averaged 29.5 points, four rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3.5 steals and 0.5 blocks per game. He went 12-of-22 from the field including 5-of-11 from three-point range at Grambling State, finishing with 33 points, three rebounds, four steals and two assists, and 26 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals at Jackson State.
Davis missed all of SU’s games in December while sitting out to deal with personal issues. Since rejoining the team in January, Davis has been switched back and forth from starting point guard to coming off the bench behind Steffon Wiley.
Davis is averaging 15.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.2 blocks per game this season.
