NEW ORLEANS – Police in New Orleans say there were 98 arrests Friday through Sunday as large crowds hit the city for NBA All-Star game activities. That included 40 arrests for state law violations, 42 for municipal violations and 15 for traffic violations.
Police say in a Monday morning news release that it was a relatively small number of arrests for such a major event. They say part of the success is due to their having sent a lieutenant to Las Vegas to observe that city’s handling of All-Star events last year.
New Orleans police say three people were wounded by gunfire in the French Quarter just a few hours after the NBA All-Star game wrapped up in the city.
