In their final contests of the year the Southern University softball team had no problem defeating Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 10-2, and, 7-5, Saturday.
Southern (25-16, 13-4 SWAC) wrapped up the season sweeping three-out-of-four Southwestern Athletic Conference Western Division foes. This is coach Marshall’s eighth 20 win season in her 11 years as head coach. Her career record is 283-208.
Just the day before Southern softball captured its fifth straight SWAC Western Division title by defeating UAPB, 9-1.
With a (13-4) conference record, Southern goes ahead of second place Grambling (10-7) in the Western division. Before Southern’s sweep of UAPB, the two were tied for first place.
