A university release stated that Nyhlia Youngblood, a 23-year-old senior from Shreveport, was killed in a car accident Tuesday in Bienville Parish. According to State Police, a passenger, Janell Youngblood, 40, also died in the accident.
The accident happened just north of the community of Union. State Police said Nyhlia Youngblood’s car was broadsided by a Mack truck. Youngblood, an architecture major, was scheduled to graduate this spring.
“The Southern University family is saddened by the loss of Nyhlia Youngblood. Our prayers are with the loved ones of both Nyhlia and Janell Youngblood,” Interim Chancellor Margaret Ambrose said.
