Spring Break is finally upon Southern University students! Beginning April third and ending the twelfth, most students take advantage of this time to visit beaches or home. Either way, here are some tips to keep you safe while you enjoy your break from school.
- Do not drink and drive.
- Even having an open container in the vehicle can result in the driver and all passengers receiving tickets.
- Keep an eye on your drink.
- If you set your drink down, don’t pick it up again. Get a new one.
- Do not drink from open beverage sources, such as punch bowls, tubs and pitchers.
- Drugs can be mixed into these containers.
- Let people know where you’re going to be.
- Notifying someone of your location, and when you plan on returning home allows them to notify the proper authorities if anything undesired takes place.
- Use the buddy system.
- There’s safety in numbers.
- Be aware of your surroundings.
- Know the location of the exits and analyze the scene.
- Stay hydrated.
- Drinking alcohol while in the sun can result in dehydration.
- Be aware of local laws.
- Knowing beforehand prevents you from having to learn the hard way.
Remember these tips and cautions for a safe Spring Break. Please be careful while partying, but don’t forget to have fun and enjoy yourself!
