Organizational fairs are supposed to be a safe place where everyone can go to find a new family away from home and meet people they may have never seen before. When attending an organization fair, students go into the building looking for clubs they may have never heard of to see if that may be a fit for them and if it would continue to interest them during their time here at Southern University.
When planning an organization fair, one must think of the number of students in the student body as well as how many organizations are on campus. Once figuring that out, the individual must go about seeing which location would best fit the event. After talking to many individuals after the organization fair, many wished that it would have been held at the mini dome. One of the many reasons is space.
With our acceptance rate being so high, we have a lot of students on campus, so the event center made it hard for students and organizations to have space to mix and mingle with each other. With a plethora of organizations on campus, being crowded in that tight area made it very hard for students to enjoy themselves.
Another statement made was that with it being such a small place, fraternities and sororities should be mindful of the tight space and take advantage of the smaller space that was present. Additionally, the lack of space in the event center also hindered the ability of students to fully engage with the various organizations on campus. It became challenging for students to explore different opportunities and connect with like-minded individuals due to the cramped environment. Therefore, the university must address this issue and provide a larger venue that can accommodate the growing number of students and organizations effectively.
